MS Thesis and PhD Dissertation Proposals

M.S. and Ph.D. students have to prepare and submit a proposal. The proposal has to be in compliance with proposal format and approved by the IESc Executive Board. The proposal has to contain following information (refer to propoposal format document for detailed information):

Title page: Title of thesis, name of student, name(s) of supervisor(s), month and year.

Abstract: A brief summary of major components of the proposed research.

Introduction: Objective,  scope and scientific significance of proposed work; brief literature review.

Literature Review: Thorough review of relevant literature in proposed research area.

Methodology: Description of experimental or computational work.

Expected Outcomes: Present any results you already have obtained and discuss the expected outcomes you aim to achieve.

References: All references cited in the previous sections should be listed. Do not give any uncited references.

Thesis and Disseration Formats and Templates
As of March 2023, IESc uses version 2.3 for formatting. Please use the format given in the following link while preparing your thesis or dissertation: Thesis and Dissertation Format v2.3
 
For your ease, refer to these template documents for MS Theses or PhD Dissertation: MS Thesis Template v2.3 or PhD Dissertation Template v2.3. Please note that template documents are provided as examples and may contain small errors. In case of mismatch between the templates and format guideline, students should refer to the guideline as correct instructions. Please allow at least two weeks for format checking by editors. 
 
Before delivering the thesis or dissertation to IESC Executive Board, please sign the Thesis Format Petition.
